Toshindo Halloween Party
The Toshindo Halloween party was a huge success! Everyone who attended had a great time! I would like to thank all of the people who helped make this event a success. More particularly Sempai Sonia who made the dojo a Halloween haven with the help from Sempai Amanda, and Sensei Rowan. Lets give a great thanks to Sempai Charles for helping with all of the games and keeping the kids in line and giving horsy rides. I want to thank all of the instructors, students, and parents for coming and participating. Especially the parents who took the time to put on a costume and show our kids that you can have fun too! Thank you Shihan Don for allowing us to have fun at the dojo. The party was such a success, we may be doing it again next year.
Click on this link for party pictures, thank Sempai Charles for the upload. Everyone have a safe and healthy Halloween and don't eat too much candy!
I must apologize to some parents who did not know that siblings were invited too. Sorry if this caused you any inconvenience if this was a reason you did not attend.
Upcoming Events
Wood Breaking Night
The next Woodbreaking night is scheduled for Friday December 7, 2007. Mark the date and come out and break some boards! We want to have more people participate in this event. Especially if you have never done it. Test your own strength, speed and accuracy. It is a fun event!
Toshindo School Tournament
Sunday November 18, will be the Toshindo school tournament. Everyone can and should sign up for the tournament. This will be a great opportunity to try your skills and experience competition under Shihans direction in our own dojo with fellow students.
Everyone who participates goes home with a trophy. Tournament time will be 11am to 3pm with specific arrival times and divisions to be announced. The fee for the tournament will be $30 for 1 event, $50 for 2 events, and $65 for three events. You can sign up in the office with Bea.
Upcoming Outside Tournaments
Next Saturday is the Oyama Karate Tournament. This is a traditional Kata, and continuous sparring tourney. Those interested in this tourney can still sign up at the door.I believe we have a good contingency going to this tournament. Wish everyone well!
If anyone is interested in fighting at this tournament please speak with me at Mondays class or Shihan or Sempai Charles, at Tuesday class. We can let you know if you are ready for this type of Tournament or get you prepared for it.
The key to fighting in this tournament is heart and stamina. You have to be able to take a hit, and I mean a good hit, and you should be able to give back as good as you get for 2 minutes without quitting. This is Shihans Fighting style. It makes you a stronger person, more confident and able to survive and/or escape a real situation, without falling apart and becoming a victim.
All competitors wear protective gear, chest protectors, and face masks for kids.
November 4, the World Oyama Tournament, in Bronx NY
Next Sunday is the Krane Nationals Tournament. This is the last tournament of the Krane year. We have competitors who will be participating and giving it their all for the last outside tournament of the year. When it is over our Team Toshindo deserves a good break. Wish them all well!
November 5, the Krane Nationals Tournament, MA

Team Toshindo
If you would like to be a part of Team Toshindo talk to Shihan or me. We are still looking for some beginner competitors.
I will be trying to set up team practice times for early next year since there are a lot of other outside activities going on right now. Practice your techniques and the kata you know. Try to get your stances low and tight. Lock and hold kicks for at least 1 sec. I want all who are on the team or who want to be on the team to make a committeemen to try to attend practices and practice at home. This is the only way to improve.
Shihan and I are going to try and introduce some new and exciting things for the team in the next few weeks.
Other Dojo Stuff
Toshindo will have 2008 Toshindo Calendars available for sale. The calendar has candid snap shots of all of our children taking class. You can view the calendar in the office on the wall. Let us know of your interest in the calendar.
Adult daytime classes are on Tuesday and Fridays 12pm-1:30pm.
These Classes are taught by Sensei Alberta, and these classes count toward your stripes and promotions. These are additional classes so make sure you count them toward your weekly class allotment, when making your monthly payment.
