Everyone who participates goes home with a trophy!!
Tournament time will be 11am to 3pm with specific arrival times and divisions to be announced.
The fee for the tournament will be $30 for 1 event, $50 for 2 events, and $65 for three events.
You can sign up in the office with Bea.

Outside Tournament Results

I have to be a little self serving on this information.
Sempai Aila Prieto Participated in 2 back to back tournaments, and did well. On Saturday She did the Oyama tournament which was traditional and did weapons, kata and fought in a Semi knockdown. She actually had 4, 2 min fights. On Sunday in Massachusetts She competed weapons, kata and point fighting. We should give her a big congratulations on her double duty this weekend.

World Oyama Tournament

  • Sempai Aila Prieto 1st Weapons, 1st Kata, 4th Semi Knockdown Fighting
  • Melissa Cardon 2nd Kata, 2nd Semi Knockdown Fighting
  • Jim Cardon Participation Kata, Participation Semi Knockdown Fighting

I'd also like to take this time to congratulate Melissa Cardon for stepping up to the Oyama Challenge and doing the Semi Knock down women's. She had trained very hard and I was very proud of her performance and representation of Toshindo Karate.
Osu Melissa!

Krane Nationals

  • Sempai Aila Prieto 3rd Weapons, 4th Kata, 1st Fighting
  • Danny Etkin 2nd Weapons, 2nd Kata, 1st Open Kata, 2nd Fighting
  • Matt Bernstein finalist weapons, 3rd kata

If anyone is interested in fighting in future Oyama Style tournaments please speak with me at Mondays and Saturday classes or Shihan Steve on Wednesday night adult classes or Sempai Charles, at Tuesday classes. We can help get you Prepared for this type of Tournament.
The key to fighting in this type of tournament is heart and stamina. You have to be able to take a hit, and I mean a good hit, and you should be able to give back as good as you get for 2 minutes without quitting. This is Shihans Fighting style. It makes you a stronger person, more confident and able to survive and/or escape a real situation, without falling apart and becoming a victim.

Achievements & Promotions

  • Daniel Hostetter Yellow to Orange Belt.
    Congratulations and keep training hard!
If you or your child has done something worthy of praise or have made some sort of accomplishment outside of the dojo, let us know. I would be happy to share the accomplishment with our dojo family.

    Team Toshindo

If you would like to be a part of Team Toshindo talk to Shihan or me. We are still looking for some beginner competitors.
Team requirements are: Team Gi, Team practices, Team spirit. All team members should support other team members.
I will be trying to set up team practice times for early next year since there are a lot of other outside activities going on right now. Practice your techniques and the kata you know. Try to get your stances low and tight. Lock and hold kicks for at least 1 sec. I want all who are on the team or who want to be on the team to make a committeemen to try to attend practices and practice at home. This is the only way to improve.
Shihan and I are going to try and introduce some new and exciting things for the team in the next few weeks.

    Other Dojo Stuff
