Proper use and Care of your Karate Uniform (Gi)

You may want to invest in another Gi if you are training more than once a week.
Gi's should be washed after every use. Especially if you perspire alot. Do not bleach your white Gi top with the patches. Your white Gi pants can be bleached. Students should not store their Gis in a bag after it has been worn. Never wash your belt (obi). Students should report to class with a clean Gi and sleeves should be hemmed to just below the elbow. Gi sleeves should not hang past students hands. This becomes a distraction to the child. Pants should be hemmed to the ankle and should not drag on the floor. This creates a safety hazard for slips and falls. Parents, please do not let your children eat messy foods while wearing their Gi. Parents also make your children responsible for their own belts and Gi's. If your Gi is looking, discolored or ragged then you should definitely look to get a new one. It never hurts to have a spare on hand.

Did you Know that Toshindo has T-shirts, Sweatshirts, hoodies & hats for Sale.
Pick up something in the office and show your Toshindo pride!

There are great pictures at the site.

Most recently we introduced another new kata that had yet to be named, but I am proud to introduce "Konzai". Konzai = mixture, since the kata is a mixture of some of our existing traditional kata.

Until next time!
